Drive down the ancient tree lined avenue, set back from the road and hidden by woodland, you will find this luxurious English home in the Hampshire countryside. A Georgian English country house with later additions by acclaimed 20th century architect, Goodhart Rendel and recently refurbished to an exacting standard, this property is the ideal country retreat for family vacations, house parties or special celebrations.

There has been a house on the site of the current Farleigh House for almost 1,000 years with the original house being burnt down in 1661, on the King’s orders. The Wallop family, later Earls of Portsmouth, have always owned the original Farleigh House and subsequently the current Farleigh House that we see today, built in 1731. The 10th Earl of Portsmouth lived in Farleigh House from 1989 – 2014 with his family and thoroughly modernized the house and landscaped the garden.

Farleigh House has a beautiful 3 acre walled garden with water features, statues, a rose garden and glass houses. The outdoor swimming pool is heated and is surrounded by roses and other flowers making it a relaxing spot to sit and take in the surroundings. There is a beautiful lake in the grounds and opportunities for many activities such as riding, foraging, yoga, deer stalking and game shooting (during the season). For cricket lovers, there is a cricket pitch with a pavilion. Inside the house there is a movie theater and billiards room along with a well stocked wine cellar. This house is an ideal country retreat as it is so easy to reach from London and yet is completely private and set in among a rural haven.
