WHY CHOOSE OUR COUNTRY HOUSES NEAR LONDON?

We only work with the very best country houses and mansions near London, all of which are in fact family homes.  We also have similar country houses in Hampshire and Kent.  Every one of them is unique in its own way, but all of them offer exclusivity and privacy.  They are all surrounded by their own private estate or land giving guests the utmost security when staying.

The proximity to London, of all these charming manor houses, is what makes them easily accessible and a realistic alternative to staying in London for those people who need easy and/or regular access to the city.  Many of them are within minutes of mainline train stations with a fast service to London as well as some being close to a main motorway route into the capital.

Private Vacations

These beautiful and secluded country houses are ideal for family reunions and vacations as well as being perfect for celebrating a birthday or special occasion.  One of the many advantages of these country houses being a part of a larger private estate is that usually there is a whole host of activities that can take place on site.  A large number of them have tennis courts, croquet lawns, swimming pools and private lakes for boating and/or swimming which can offer several hours of entertainment for everyone without having to leave the house.

Concierge Service

We offer a concierge service for all our clients staying at these exclusive manor houses and can organise whatever activities you and your guests would like to enjoy.  Together with the lead guest, we will carefully craft an itinerary for all your family and friends for each day of your stay.  Often we have multiple activities going on at once to ensure that the wishes and ages of guests are carefully considered.

We can arrange all sorts of activities including but not exhaustively (too many to list): mountain biking, falconry, hiking, visits to vineyards, cultural tours of local cities, visits to local gardens and/or historic houses, fishing, golf, visits to museums, antique shopping, water sports and picnics as well as many others.

Bespoke Itineraries

We arrange personalised and private tours of historic buildings such as churches and historic houses so that you are visiting with just your friends or family and not the general public.  All our holidays are bespoke with tailormade itineraries moulded to your requirements.

Corporate Venues

These London manor houses can also be ideal for Corporate Events or to escape from the hustle of the city with senior colleagues where you need privacy and peace and quiet.

Whatever your requirements are, please do get in touch as we have other secret gems which might be suitable for you and which are not listed here.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

“I wanted to tell you that we had a fantastic two weeks in England and your input had a significant impact on our trip. We LOVED the house and Fiona and Douglas. They hired a chef who made superb meals for us – including the kids. We really enjoyed their hospitality. Anyway, thanks so much for all the time and help you gave us – your opinions and advice were invaluable!”

WHAT TO DO OUTSIDE LONDON

Golf Courses

Some of our country houses near London have their own private golf course, such as Cowdray House with its own 18 hole championship course, and others are within a short distance from some of England’s most famous courses.  Knowlton Court, for example, is within 15 minutes’ drive from Sandwich and its three championship golf courses which can provide the central focus of a vacation with friends.  Hampshire Place is under 40 minutes drive from Sherfield Oaks Golf Course with 36 holes of championship golf available.  For those golfers looking for a more relaxed environment, Langley House is just 20 minutes drive from the family run, Whitley Golf Club which offers 9 holes.

Spas

To help you unwind and truly escape the pressures of city life, a Spa day is always a welcome way to destress.  We can arrange for masseurs, yoga teachers, beauty therapists, pilates instructors and others to come and pamper you and your guests as you wish.  Alternatively, you might prefer to go to a local expert in one of these fields and we can make sure that we find you the best in the area near to the manor house you are staying in.

Fine Dining

Although we will ensure that you have the finest chef for your stay, and indeed a Michelin Star chef if you wish, there maybe a time when you would like to go out and sample a local restaurant for lunch or dinner.  With our local knowledge, we can advise you on the best local restaurants to visit and enjoy.

Family Outings

As part of our concierge service, we plan all the intricacies of your itinerary along with activities and entertainment for the duration of your stay.  Depending on which country house near London that you’re staying in, we will consult with you beforehand and come up with some wonderful ideas for you and your family.

For example, staying at Knowlton Court, it is near to the historic city of Canterbury with it’s Cathedral and historic buildings. Here you will find designer shopping, excellent restaurants and if you’re into drama, The Marlowe Theatre.  A fun place to visit for a family excursion.  Visits to the beach when the weather is good are a must and we can arrange for you to have a wonderful picnic so that your time is spent enjoying the sea air and exploring the coast.  There are also wild animal parks, castles and gardens to visit, cycle trails to follow, local hikes and many other attractions to enjoy as a family.

Vineyards

English wine is becoming ever more popular and visiting one of the vineyards where the wine is made, is a really fun day out for all the family.  Knowlton Court being in the county of Kent, The Garden of Eden, find themselves in perfect vineyard and winery country which means there are several to visit such as the Gusbourne Estate and Chapel Down Winery.

FAQ

What is the longest length of time we could rent one of the country houses near London?

This is really up to you and also depends on the owner of the house and how long they are prepared to let their house for.  We have a personal relationship with all our house owners and refer every enquiry we have through them so we can discuss details like this when we first hear from you, our client.

Do the houses have a set number of staff provided for our stay?

Each house will have their own permanent staff and this will be the minimum you will have for your stay.  We can easily arrange for there to be more staff or alternatively, in some cases, you may be welcome to bring your own staff if you should wish to.

What time of year is the best time to stay in a manor house near London?

England is subject to seasonal weather and so at Christmas and New Year it is likely to be very cold, sometimes below freezing with snow and ice.  Winter is a very cosy time to stay in one of these houses as they all tend to have open fires and become very cosy and romantic when the weather is bitter outside.  Easter and Spring is a lovely time of year near London when the daffodils and spring flowers start making an appearance and then the summer months of July and August can also be lovely as sometimes the days are sunny and beautiful, although there is no guarantee!  The best time of year to visit is really a matter of personal opinion but the summer months of July and August are probably our busiest time.

Can we bring our family dogs with us?

Whether a house allows guests to bring their dogs depends very much on the house owner.  Some of the manor houses near London are dog friendly and others prefer not to accommodate them.  This would be discussed at the beginning of any enquiry and if bringing your dogs is important to you, we will make sure that we find a house that welcomes you and your dogs in equal measure.
